OPEN POSITIONS
Coffee Barista: Part-time
Applicants must have availability during the café’s full operating hours: Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 6 PM; Saturday, 7 AM - 6 PM. Shifts will be scheduled within these hours based on business needs. Additionally, occasional evening hours and special events may require flexibility beyond standard operating hours.
Job Summary:
This experienced barista will be the first interaction guests have with The Traveler. They will be responsible for providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience for each customer with prompt service. This individual needs to be able to work with a POS system, have excellent customer service skills, multi-task, and have the ability to take initiative where needed.
The Walter Anderson Museum of Art seeks an energetic and passionate barista to assist in cafe services.
Essential Functions:

Cafe counter, serving as the initial point of contact for visitors
-
Manage cafe products and displays including receiving, stocking, and inventory
-
Ability to learn and use the Museum’s POS system, credit card platform including its handheld card readers, and ecommerce, ensuring accurate transactions and customer satisfactions

Ability to multitask including taking orders, preparing food and beverage orders, serving guests, and answering phones

Cash handling and daily reconciliation and reports

Maintain a clean and organized cafe environment

Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction

Participate in professional development opportunities, meetings, trainings, and events to create a cohesive visitor experience across the campus

Ensure an exceptional visitor experience by creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that complements the museum’s mission

Work will be performed indoors in a cafe setting, throughout the museum at special events, and at various offsite locations as dictated by job duties

Work hours will include weekend hours and some evenings due to events

Needs to be able to lift up to 30 lbs

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods, move actively throughout the shift, and perform tasks in a fast paced environment

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
This part-time hourly position requires approximately 24 hours a week.
Preferred Education and Experience:

Previous barista experience
-
Strong understanding of health code policies, safety, and security practices to maintain high standards of service, customer experience, and food safety regulations

Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications
-
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment

Passion for coffee culture, art, and community engagement

Applicant must pass a background check and a 60-day probationary period.
