About The Event
Krewe Du Canoe is inspired by Walter Anderson's passion for adventure and his wilderness travels by skiff and canoe. It honors the role of the archetypal boat in human culture, history, and imagination.
The Krewe is a fundraising vehicle (pun intended) to keep the Museum afloat (couldn't resist), and honors the connectivity between Anderson's birth city of New Orleans and his home town of Ocean Springs.
In keeping with Walter Anderson's love for the natural world, the Krewe du Canoe does not throw plastic beads, opting instead for curated "keepables", orginal hand-created artifacts, and eco-friendly alternatives.
