The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is pleased to announce the 2009 WAMA Coastal Holiday Card Contest. All artists throughout the Southeast are invited and encouraged to participate.
Walter Inglis Anderson had a love for nature that was not only apparent in his day to day life but most certainly in his art. Anderson referred to himself as an artist "more in love with nature than art," and easily portrays his ideals in all of his work.
All drawings, paintings (water color, oil, pastels, acrylics, etc.) must be two-dimensional and represent a Coastal Holiday Theme. Artists can submit up to two designs. Photographs will also be gladly accepted. The winning entries of four artists will be selected anonymously by a panel of judges. The front of the artwork must NOT be signed. The four designs chosen will be sold in the museum store. Winning artists will receive $50, a one-year family membership, along with twenty-four cards, (six of each winning design). The cards will be printed and available at the Peter Anderson Festival this fall.
Designs must be made on heavy weight paper suitable for reproduction. Paper measuring 9"x12" is ideal. Images should exactly fill a rectangle measuring 8"x11, 3/8". It is suggested that the original design be protected by a sheet of clear acetate. The deadline for entry is the close of business hours - 4:30 pm, Friday, August 28, 2009.
Artists can submit artwork by mail or hand deliver to the
